Hairloss x The Knightsbridge Clinic一Q: I am 20 years old and have recently completed my National Service. I noticed my receding hairline when I was 16 and I understand it can be due to genetics as my father is balding too but it has gotten worse in the last 2 years. The hair on the top of my head is also thinning alongside the hairline that is now at least 2cm higher than before. I am very bothered by it as “life” is just about to start for me. What would be the best solution?- Troubled young man一A: Dear Troubled Young Man, Hair loss at such a young age is becoming more apparent these days. It is clear that you are faced with Male Patterned hair loss that is caused by genetics which has probably taken on a slightly more rapid rate due to lifestyle while you were serving NS. Although a hair transplant procedure may not be the best solution at such a young age, depending on the progress of your hair loss, you may be able to “fix’ your hairline with a small session whereas the same may not be advisable for thinning of the hair on the top. Further assessment by an expert hair doctor who can advise you on ways to reverse the thinning through an oral & topical medication regime is advised.
