Hair Restoration Treatments & Hair Transplant

See a Doctor trained in Hair Loss Treatment From our Clinic for a Medically Proven Treatment. A three step process that helps you grow back thick, natural looking hair.

There are countless over-the-counter creams, oils and shampoos that are advertised to those looking to regain a head of hair. However, these methods often fail to produce results as they do not address the issue that hair loss is a medical condition which occurs right down to the cellular and molecular levels of the follicle roots. Treatment of medical conditions should be sought from doctors who can provide professional advice and treatment based on an in-depth understanding as hair loss specialists.

Most products that can be bought off the shelf do not contain the scientific formula necessary to reduce the size of the molecules, in order to penetrate deep down into the roots. In addition to this, they lack the prescription medication, anti-oxidants and minerals that are medically proven to counteract hair loss caused by biochemical pathways.

Step 1: Block DHT from Attacking the Root of Your Follicles

Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is an active form of testosterone which is the main cause of primary hair loss among males (male pattern baldness/androgenetic alopecia). DHT may also affect hair loss in women, but has a much stronger association with the condition found in males.

The enzyme 5-Alpha-Reductase is responsible for the creation of DHT. Due to the nature of genetics, a certain percentage of the population will be born with follicles that have a higher vulnerability to DHT, which leads to miniaturisation of follicles and causes death of the strand.

If a hair loss treatment is going to be successful, it needs to address the role of DHT as the core issue behind the condition. At our hair loss clinic, we offer tow major treatments which inhibit DHT and prevent its harmful effects.

**Minoxidil lotion is a formula that does not block the DHT pathway, but is still clinically proven for its effectiveness in treating hair loss for both men and women. This formula is exclusively available at The Knightsbridge Clinic.**

Fina 1mg: A tablet taken once per day at the same time each day. Approximately 2% of patients may experience decreased libido or sperm count, but these side effects are rare are will vanish when you stop taking the medication. Fina is the most effective step in treatment of androgenetic alopecia due to its effectiveness in the blockage of DHT, and the vast majority of patients will experience the benefits without any side effects whatsoever.

Pilose Anti-Hair Loss Shampoo & Serum: This formula is scientifically developed with ingredients that help block DHT and its harmful effects. Oleanolic Acid is one of the ingredients used and offers up to 56% reduction in DHT production by inhibiting the 5-Alpha-Reductase enzyme.

Step 2: Nourish your scalp with “hair-food” that it loves

This stage involves three steps: Electroporation, the iGrow system and Inversion Supplements. The iGrow system can even be purchased to be used in the comfort of your own home.

Step 3: Reinforce with FUE hair transplant

At The Knightsbridge Clinic, we can offer the advanced ARTAS Robotic Hair Transplant and FUE Hair Transplant to our customers in Singapore. For extreme cases where other treatments are ineffective, a hair loss specialist can use a Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) . A FUE Hair Transplant removes some select hair follicles from areas of growth (e.g. side or back of the head) and relocates said follicles to the bald or balding area. These areas are also referred to as the ‘donor site’ and ‘recipient site’ respectively, with the recipient site usually being located close to the front hairline or around the temples.

Despite the nature of the procedure, it is mostly non-invasive — follicles which are resistant to balding are located and chosen for transplant. The principle of “Donor Dominance” refers to the hairs that genetically resist balding despite any issues with hair loss the individual may be having. Once transplanted, the hair continues to grow while resisting harmful effects which had caused hair loss in the past.

This treatment is the ONLY current method that has proven to show results on the temples and around the front of the hairline. However, it can also be used on the crown or top of the head if other forms of therapy have proven ineffective. In fact, we are of the opinion that a FUE hair transplant is the most effective treatment for hair loss when other treatments fail to address the issue.

The best part about the results is that the new hair will grow back as thick and natural as ever, helping you regain your confidence without the unnatural look of wigs. Have a look below to get a better idea of how this treatment works; have you ever noticed how common it is for balding men to have a thick ring of hair around the sides and back while the top suffers from hair loss? This is due to the fact that this hair has two unique but powerful advantages:

(1) The follicles are resilient against the miniaturisation effects of DHT, and will retain this feature when transplanted to the top of the head. The hairs act as if they have never been moved, and continue to grow thickly and naturally.

(2) Often, these hairs grow in bunches of two, three and even four strands!

Combined, these features make the hairs in this area ideal for use as ‘donors’. In addition, the transplantation of your own hair means rejection is highly unlikely, which avoids any irritation or infection.

Once the treatment has been completed, you will end up with a full head of your own hair which is naturally tough against DHT. The transplanted hairs are permanently moved, and the entire procedure can be done in a single day so that you can go straight back home once everything is done.

Designed to effectively halt and reverse loss of hair

This entire three step process is designed to address three key areas of hair regrowth: inhibiting DHT, nourishing the scalp and spread the DHT-resistant follicles around your whole head. Thanks to the effectiveness of this project, you can finally breathe a sigh of relief knowing that you have access to the best technology in the field.

Why it’s important to act fast

The miniaturisation process that affects the follicles is never-ending. In other words, your hair is slowly but continually dying and near impossible to revive. A large number of transplants could potentially fix this issue, except for the fact that donor areas only contain a limited number of genetically resistant hairs which need to be preserved and evenly spread out. In addition, seeking multiple surgeries can quickly prove to be highly costly, which is why we suggest our professionally tested protocol for treatment of hair loss which was refined from the latest practices in South Korea. Save hairs which are able to be revived and then provide your scalp with the right nutrition to foster long lasting hair growth.

It’s important to remember that because it is a medical condition, you should address the issue by consulting a qualified hair loss specialist with the necessary experience in the field.

Frequently asked questions

1Is female hair loss identical to male hair loss or male pattern baldness?
No, both genders are affected by different conditions. Female Pattern Hair Loss (FPHL) is most commonly the culprit for the condition among women, and has three different stages as set out in Ludwig’s classification scale. This condition often results in the typical appearance of central thinning that begins as a line in the crown and extends across to form a rounded patch.

This disorder is affected by many different factors and is not narrowed down to a single cause. The latest studies and research indicates that FPHL is not fully associated with the same issues as Male Pattern Hair Loss (MHPL), that being the negative effects of DHT. This concept is backed up by the fact that treatments such as Propecia, which are normally highly effective against Androgenetic Alopecia, are not always successful for those suffering from FHPL.

Because the cause of FPHL is not associated with hormones, the timeframe for results to start appearing is typically shorter than that of treatment for MHPL. We has a successful track record with sufferers of FHPL, so book a consultation today to get started.
2Besides Male and Female Pattern Hair Loss, what are the other causes of the condition?
While these are the most common culprits behind the issue, the following can also cause hair loss in adults:

Alopecia Areata: This condition manifests itself as round or patchy bald areas around the scalp and is commonly secondary to an autoimmune reaction, which means that the scalp is damaged by the individual’s own antibodies and results in loss of hair. Alopecia Areata often has a strong association with family history. Dr Wong combines regrowth treatments with intra-lesional injections which produces outstanding results.

Telogen Effluvium: Excessive stress on the mind or body (such as exams, occupation or giving birth) can sometimes lead to loss of hair as long as three of four months later. The reason for this is that the telogen (or resting stage) of a hair follicle is approximately three months — any difference may not be obvious while experiencing the stress, although growth of new hairs is inhibited. This means that when hairs fall out at the end of their telogen, no new hairs are ready to take their place. While this does result in some balding, the effects are almost always temporary. However, regrowth treatments can be undertaken to speed up the process and ensure that all hair returns without any permanent loss.

Thyroid conditions: If the thyroid hormone levels in our body are too low or too high, which can occur during hyper or hypothyroidism, there are noticeable reactions around the body. Loss of hair is a common effect of this condition, which can be treated by a medical professional with expertise in endocrinology.

Nutritional Deficiencies: Maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle is important for our overall wellbeing, which can include the health of our hair. Low levels of zinc, iron, folate and copper along with vitamins A, B and C have been associated with balding. At a basic level, a healthy diet should consist of some lean meat, vegetables and fruits, while supplements can also be used to provide an extra boost if levels are abnormally low.

Scalp infections: Just like any part of the body, the scalp can suffer from infection which can occur as a result of fungal penetration. This leads to follicle damage and hair loss, which is temporary if appropriate treatment for the infection is sought as quickly as possible, such as medicated lotions and tablets.
3How do I know the severity of hair loss I'm experiencing?
Men can use the Norwood Scale to assess the severity of the issue:

Women can consult the Ludwig scale:

While we encourage you to approach our hair loss clinic if you are having any issues, it’s important to take action as quickly as possible to achieve the best long term results.
4Are these the only treatments available at your hair loss clinic?
We have a number of different treatments available, such as our very own Minoxidil lotion (5%) which contains a unique formula. This formula can be used in the comfort of your own home, and should be applied twice per day with around six pumps on areas which are thinning. Gently massage the lotion into the skin, and avoid excessive spray to prevent oily residue. To find out more, book a consultation today.
