Fret not, we at The Knightsbridge Clinic understand your worries, and we definitely feel your pain.

Acne scarring has always been one of the most difficult skincare issues to treat. Not only that, to achieve visually obvious improvement can be a big challenge – the worst that can happen to you is to spend lots of money and time and use up precious leave to recover from acne scar treatments, with hardly a hint of improvement.

That is why, highly experienced doctors at The Knightsbridge Clinic have come up with a sure-win protocol that can be used for every acne scar patient!

**There is an extra secret step which we can only reveal upon consultation, that will be a game changer.

Our doctors will first assess the type, severity and depth of scarring.

SUBCISION + COLLAGEN FILLERS

Subcision is recommended if the scars are deep and adherent to the overlying skin. This is a technique used to break up the dense scar tissue beneath the skin, which stick to the skin, resulting in surface irregularities. These scars are usually too deep for lasers to reach.

A blunt tip cannula/needle is tunnelled under the skin to release the scars. This is followed by introduction of a collagen-stimulating filler such as Ellanse or Radiesse. New, healthy collagen forms and prevents the scar tissue from adhering to the skin again. We DO NOT RECOMMEND using hyaluronic acid fillers in this instance – it is like trying to chop a tree with a penknife ( the result is mild and doesn’t last long)!

SMOOTH SKIN LASER

We then proceed to resurface the skin with the use of a fractional ablative laser such as Pixel Pro (Erbium-YAG). Fractional ablative lasers create small vertical tunnels in the skin called microthermal zones, spaced apart, while leaving the surrounding skin intact. The surrounding untreated skin serves as a healing reservoir to regenerate and heal the treated areas. Thus, this significantly reduce the downtime and complication rate. New skin and collagen will form during the healing process and result in improvement of scar appearance. Several sessions are needed to achieve the best results. Each session allows for an improvement of 15-20% ( as that’s the fraction that’s treated and recovers as new skin).

Aftercare is extremely important following fractional resurfacing laser to reduce complications. Stem cell serum and mask will be applied immediately post procedure to accelerate the healing process. Regular sunblock, moisturizer and gentle cleansing are necessary to prevent complications. Our clinic offers a range of in-house formulated products that are effective in achieving these aims.

Some patients may need just Subcision + Collagen Fillers, some may need just the Smooth Skin Laser. Or some may need both. There is an extra secret step which we can only reveal upon consultation, that will be a game changer. The exact regime will be advised upon consultation with our experienced doctors.
